We’d like to give you a warm welcome to our school. With heart and enthusiasm, we work with our children each day to ensure that they are not only getting a well-rounded, balanced education, but they are also becoming the best person they can be. At TNS Academy, we are open, honest and set ourselves apart from many other private school options. Our students receive a strong base in the core subjects (we scored an average of over 90% across the board in all topics on standardized tests last year), but there is much more to us!
We are unique. Many schools simply talk about having an enriching liberal arts program. At TNS Academy, we walk the talk. Students experience a large variety of classes in order to ensure that they leave our school with a cache of knowledge. We don’t just offer the same classes year after year. Giving students a taste of a variety of topics allows them the experience and knowledge to make logical choices on which interests they would like to pursue when entering middle school.
Come visit our fifth grade class on a Wednesday. In Math and Language Arts, you’ll see two grouping of students—one set working on grade level and another working a grade level above. With our flexible teaching styles, we reach those who excel in specific areas. You’ll see the students using their own laptops to research the Anasazi’s development of cliff dwellings. You might even observe the yeast growing in petri dishes on the side of the room as we discuss the characteristics of the Fungi Kingdom. Come after lunch and you might see teams of students with heads bent over their Lego creations programming them with their laptops to move an object across the room in Robotics class. Maybe you’ll stay long enough to get some poses in during Yoga class.
Or maybe you’d like to join us on a Friday. Our Gardening instructor, Tim Miller, brings bits of his organic farm to us. The students might have their hands knee-deep in the soil, testing for the chemical composition of it so they might not have time to look up. Enter our Sign Language class and you could take with you a few of the signs for how your day is going. If you come during Theater, you’ll have to make a choice: Shakespeare or Musical Theater. The students are thrilled to have a choice of classes that specializes in a particular area of Theater.
If you stop in on other days, you might catch an Art, Choral or Chess class. All are offered throughout our school day and only add to our amazing curriculum. You will want to call before you stop in though. We might be in Dallas checking out the King Tut’s tomb exhibition or at the Kimbell experiencing the Impressionist exhibit!
