In our Primary Science classroom, we give students the space and joy to wonder. As adults, we are so tempted to jump into a student’s scientific endeavors and lend quick answers to scientific phenomenon. However, our teachers give students the space to wonder ask questions, and lend their own answers first before helping them find solutions. Ultimately, we feel, it is more important for young children to understand the process of science than knowing the content of science/
We use GEMS and AIMS curriculums which are grounded in an inquiry-driven, activity-based approach to scientific learning. The development of problem-solving and reasoning skills, an essential part of the learning process, is facilitated through guided instruction and open-ended explorations.

Social Studies at TNS focuses first on the student’s surroundings and the knowledge that a young child gains simply by living in their world. As a child’s ability to see beyond their small world expands, so does the integrated Social Studies curriculum. It is important for students in social studies programs to begin to understand, appreciate, and apply knowledge, processes, and attitudes from all of the academic areas. We wish for students to have the opportunity to explore what it means to be a good citizen through discussions, projects, and activities.
